Another Ropp Vintage On The Way

Amazing 😍that’s not a shape you see every day.

    The Great Meerschaum Cake Experiment

That’s an idea but I was also thinking what if left partially submerged in order to observe if the coloring material “climbs” up the meer like a sponge.

    The Great Meerschaum Cake Experiment

How should I corrupt these two specimens before sawing in half? 😈

    The Great Meerschaum Cake Experiment

I may try this on some cigarette holders or on some damaged meerschaum stem extensions. Often wonder what would happen if meerschaum encountered some black ink or just leaving a pipe soaking in the bottom of a tobacco jar cray

    The Great Meerschaum Cake Experiment

Cant wait to see how this colors, the chamber is 3” deep. It’s still an unsmoked virgin… for now.

Meer Falcon? (And General Falcon Q’s)

I just purchased a falcon myself last week. The bits are quite soft for better or worse, I don’t clench hard enough to mark vulcanite but It is enough to put little dents in the falcon bit. Who cares imo as long as the hole isn’t crushed it’s just war paint. Still waiting on a meer volcano bowl...

Did I Screw up my New Savinelli?

For what it’s worth I came across some vintage footage of a London Pipe Factory receiving briar roots from Algiers. At around 2:20 the clip shows them finishing the pipes in Linseed Oil before polishing. Not saying do it just because they did but, in my experience, linseed oil has virtually...

    Is this Sav done?

Alright thanks all, duly noted. I’ll be careful with reaming; I worked my way up to the larger reamer after I realized I was never going to sand it all down. I think It probably had a more tapered bore before which is why it’s extra raw in the bottom now. Looking into the pipe-mud mixture.

    Is this Sav done?

I scored this Savinelli 111KS for $16 on ebay, after reaming an extremely thick lava cake out it is quite a big chamber, before I could barely get an index finger in it. Anyways down to the bare wood I notice there’s these splitting pits but they’re all around the entire chamber not just too...

Coloring Progress Over Time/No of Bowls in one Meerschaum Pipe

Was that a Kirsten bowl? What does it look like now?

Show Us Your Chubby (Stout / Chunky / Thick) Pipes!

Not mine but this chubby sav bothers me, it reminds me of a song. Devil or angel, I can’t make up my mind.

Coloring Progress Over Time/No of Bowls in one Meerschaum Pipe

Glad your getting some good use out of those out and about, reminds me of the Elgin marbles. …Ok not that big :) Perhaps the market is a little inflated right now, those prices are comparatively good. PS: I still want a dunhill nightcap man someday… bourgeoise or not.

Coloring Progress Over Time/No of Bowls in one Meerschaum Pipe

I have a feeling your definition of larger is a pipe about the size of a softball? Seems to me that any meer wider than say 2 inches without costing 3-4 times as much is rare as hens teeth. For example a meer carver quoted me $250 just to make a slightly larger cutty (say 40mm thick) The briar...
