    Straight Virginia's

It took me about 5 years. Suddenly I found myself smoking almost exclusively straight VA. It’s been since Sept 2023, I rarely go off straight VA. And when I do it seems like I just didn’t get what I wanted out of it. Spent last weekend on burleys trying to break the VA binge. Ended up heading...

    Craft your own pipe?

Hobby block kits give you a taste. The thing is most YouTube videos have other people with other equipment that you don’t have- I didn’t have a lathe! Patience is the key. Walk away when you’re frustrated or stumped. I’ve only carved a dozen or so. But with only a drill press, a clamp, files...

Frustrated by Escudo Navy De Luxe Rolls

That’s a routine with me. That’s when I rotate to something completely different. Like from a VaPer I might go burley, or cigar blend, maybe Lakelands. You’ll find your Escudo love again, just give it a break.

    Red Virginias

Ooh! Good reminder! I tried Winchester and stuck away a half pound or so- liked it a lot and forgot about it!

    Red Virginias

For red Virginia, I love Sutliff 515 and their Red Virginia Ribbon. Neither are nearly as strong as Irish Flake, I don’t recall picking up Red Virginia in IF. Mac Baren Pure Virginia leads with a red Virginia imo. I also love Union Square and do pick up Red Va in the mix. I second the Edisto rec...

Grandpa gave me some old pipes

My wife’s grandpa left her a few pipes. In 2015 I cleaned them up as best I could - then smoked my first bowl ever. Those pipes are worth something priceless. I still occasionally take out a particular one and smoke it. It’s about 1918, and he got it by saving labels from his favorite tobacco...

    Clan Cob Unite!

I own 10 or so cobs and like them. I smoke briar most of the time, but anytime I’m doing something where I need my hands I grab a cob. Sometimes just because the mood strikes me, I like them. Original post mentioned a Legend- you have to get a Country Gentleman. They’re as good as the pricier...

    Stuck On Virginia

Are many of us almost only straight Virginia smokers? I was wondering how many of us, and I was wondering if many arrived there after loving a wide variety over a long time. Never saw it coming, but I’ve stopped my usual rotation of genres. I used to rotate VAs, VaPers, Burley & Burley blends...
