Just a little curious about your other half's opinion. My wife doesnt really mind or care what i buy in the line of tobacco as its a huge savings when i order from the States.

In so far as the buying of pipes, again she doesn't seem to mind, but once in awhile she will voice a comment to the tune of; wow ur getting alot of pipes, and, isn't a collector suppose to collect them and not smoke em all. Now she has stated that she doesn't care how many pipes i buy, or how much they cost, but i have noticed lately that she seems to be aquiring more purses and boots. Hmm i wonder if there is a connection here? hahhah

She likes it. Says it is now easy to find gifts for me (I was always a difficult one when it came to that).

When we first started dating my wife didn't really like that I smoked, in any form, but she decided to put up with it. She's not at the point of loving it, but she understands and accepts it.

My wife has been very supportive of my new obsession. She even has learned how to look interested as I go on and on about smoking minutia. Good woman.

She'll never see you again, you'll be living in your man cave.
(which was one of the reasons I got permission to smoke inside - I spent too much time outside smoking pipes)

Before tobacco got to be 3.50-5$ an oz I had no objections, but now I rush home to get my " little packages ". And late night walmart runs for glass containers for storage. Haha

My wife is very supportive! I smoked a pipe in high school (30 years ago). My wife supported me starting again by giving me an Erik Nording Canadian Estate Pipe for Christmas. I go on about my re-found hobby and she is very sweet about it..she even talks about room note and has a few favorite room notes. My wife is the big sports fan and encourages me to sit with her and smoke when she is watching NBA.

My wife still dislikes it, but something happend yesterday that I found was hilarious.
I was getting an oil change and was outside smoking a pipe and reading a book for the 15-20 mins they did the 863 checks on the car or whatever. After that I went to go pick her up from work and when we were in the elevator on the way down after a few smooches she asks me, "Is that coffee I smell?"
She thought the after-taste/smell of Lane 1Q was that of coffee and not horrid smoke that she complains that I smell of after I'm done enjoying a pipe.
Simply hilarious. So far it is the only tobacco that really doesn't offend her in any way.
So she shouldn't mind that I'm on my last ounce and I just placed an order for more right? 8)

My wife (non-smoker) was always easygoing about this sort of thing. Moreso than me, definitely. When I started making noise about wondering about pipes she was the one who pushed me to get my first to try it out. Since then it's been a balancing act. She accepts it, loves the room/moustache note and has bought me two of my nicest pipes as gifts, but she doesn't visit me that often outdoors or in my garage haunt. I don't go through enough tobacco to make it a cost issue.
Overall, I'd say I'm winning.

My fiance doesn't mind my pipe smoking. She likes to sit on the patio with me and enjoy a cup of tea while I puff away. Also she doesn't give me grief for PADs or TADs, because she gets a lot of clothes with her extra money. Her view is, as long as the bills are paid it doesn't matter what I spend my money on.

Wife doesn't mind me smoking pipes or cigars. She said since I no longer drank or smoked cigarettes she was ok. She said everyone deserves a vice. Got to love her. :puffy:

My wife used to smoke cigarettes when we were dating and for several years after we were married. At that time I also smoked a pipe with the occasional cigar during the week. It wasn't a real big deal to her, but she did complain about some of the blends making the house "stink." A few years later she quit smoking, and now she is a bit of an irritant towards my pipe smoking. She's gone to the dark side to some degree as a "former smoker" turned anti. That has been and will likely always be a point of contention for as long as we are married. (25 years now) She stopped nagging me so much when one day she was ratting me out to some friends and girlfriends that I smoked a "stinky pipe and made the house stink...." One of the women in the group, a very attractive one I might add, told her "send him over to my house, I love the smell of a pipe and a man that smokes a pipe...." She gave one of her icy stares that sends the dogs running for cover. That diminished the comments for a while. The only concession I have made over the years is to not smoke in the house. I smoke in my shop, in my truck, and on the deck and patio. That is not negotiable. My TAD/PAD purchases leave her somewhat "accepting", but begrudgingly. She stumbled onto my TAD "mother lode" in the cellar the other day and I thought she was going to pass out. "Why are you keeping this in the tornado room, with all the water and food supplies....." To me the answer was obvious, its with the required survival supplies.
