A couple years ago a friend of mine invited me to accompany him to dinner with a client of his, a relatively wealthy man who was into scotch. We went to his house after dinner, and I knew it was going to be interesting when I saw his Bentley convertible in the garage. Turns out he only drinks Balvenie, so he began lining up the bottles on the marble countertop in his living room. He had everything from the readily available stuff up to and including Tun 1509, several special bottles, and of course the 20, 25 and 30 year. We tasted every one, 12 to 15 bottles, and a great time was had by all. An event I will never forget. My favorite was the 25 year by a very slim margin, my friend's favorite was the 30 year.
