Not exactly a well-known name in rock history, except possibly in prog rock circles. A fine solid drummer, but maybe not the absolute best fit for Yes. Then again, Bill Bruford set the bar impossibly high. But his performances on GFTO and TFTO were, I thought, excellent. RIP.

Yeah, I saw that one. First Peter Banks, then Chris Squire, now Alan White. Bummer indeed.

I agree with the above, Bill Bruford's work in that band just can't be topped IMHO. But then again, I'm one of those weirdos who preferred Tony Kaye's keyboard work to that of Rick Wakeman, high blasphemy in the eyes of any prog fan. That overdriven Hammond organ on The Yes Album can melt the chrome off a trailer hitch.

Anyway, RIP!

Yeah, the Yes Album was one of their absolute best, and Tony's keys fit perfectly. But for me, Yes is all about Virtuosity and Magnificent Excess, and Rick cannot be beat in those departments. Which is why CTTE is the pinnacle of prog rock for me.

Boy, touring is a hard and unforgiving life. Bad food, bad hours, no privacy, travel without seeing the places, drunk and stoned audiences, admirers you don't like, and so on. I hope the music saved it for him. RIP.

Right, but back in those days Yes could run around the world in solid gold Lear Jets and Diamond studded Rolls Royces, while they sipping wheat-grass shakes and nibbling hash brownies. Rick Wakeman of course excluded.
