Does anyone here know or remember XTC? When I was a young lad they were all over college radio. The excellent Skylarking which was produced by Tod Rundgren is a summer essential!

I love XTC. I was fortunate enough to meet Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding at a Tower Records event in New York years ago. They were kind enough to sign all of my XTC and the Dukes of Stratosphear LPs.

That's very cool! I miss Tower records :(

I can hear XTC's influence on countless bands over a variety of styles of music but they are rarely credited these days. I do think that the contentious atmosphere (to say the least) but Rundgren and Partridge did make an exceptional album in Skylarking. I particularly like the background sounds on The Meeting Place which were made with a Fairlight (precursor to the modern sampler).

My second favorite XTC album has to be English Settlement. This YouTube video is really well done and goes into depth about its making for anyone who might be interested.

I remember the Dear God song being on the radio a lot and I liked it but I never checked out their other stuff.

You really should check out their other material. That is my least favorite song of theirs, actually they are making Interview with a Vampire into a streaming series and using a female sung cover version of that as the theme song.

In the semi-rural NorthEastern USA
There are two b-sides, rarities, and rejected song albums that are great in my opinion and better then most peoples full releases. That would be the collection of Tom Waits and the one XTC released. Also dig their full on Beatles wanna be stuff "The Dukes of the Stratosphere" is pretty awesome but not as awesome as XTC. Yeah they're just a great band. I usually call them Nerd Rock. Cause to me that fits. Also the thing is they're one of the few bands that has a length run where they change a lot from start to finish and yet mostly kick ass the whole time. You know no "Oh I love they're first three albums, or the last ten years they were awesome.

SiriusXM plays them all the time on the channels i listen to.

But how many of you actually watched the Prisoner? Since the video tie in is there.

The BBC show? That's hallmark television if you ask me... rather existential.
