Hopefully I'm not ruining someone's steal of the day but there is a beautiful Old Boy lighter on eBay (vertical lines model) for a BIN price of only $999.95!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-Boy-Pipe-Lighter-by-IM-Corona-Chrome-Vertical-Lines-Item-1205-/261554839462?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3ce5e21fa6
The listing says it already sold four at this price? Better hurry gang, they are going fast!

I was going to say that it must be a money laundering operation, but I looked at the seller's other items for sale, and he looks very pipe smoker oriented:

Ronson made some absolutely gorgeous lighters during the Deco period, but $1k for a modern lighter? Not for me. My $15 Zippo works just fine.

The 4 that were sold were at $119.50, not $999.95.

I hope no one is blowing their rent money on these lofty prices. The zombie/Frankenstein pipe

looks worth $1.39, but I wouldn't buy it for that. I guess if you set your nets you might get

someone to pay almost anything for a pair of sweat socks.

I've said it b4 and I'll say it again, beautifully built, highly engineered objects with a singular purpose are awesome. Do matches do the same job? Sure they do, but based of that philosophy we'd have no patek philippe, rolls-Royce, Ferrari, montblanc, etc not to mention the high end pipes... Some find no value in high art while others find beauty and grace, even in something as pedestrian as a lighter. The ping of a Dupont lighter and the weight in your hand plus the fact it lights on the first try every time, they're a joy to use. And then there's nostalgia, a motivator for other objects.

Black BICs are my lighters of choice, and at a couple bucks a pop, they are all I use...and more reliable than many with no flavoring from lighter fluid. Butane rules!! Just MHO.

Buy matches at the dollar store and send anything to spare to the local animal shelter or another

good charity.
