Brand New. Came connected but half the tenon was already separated. I'd tried to gently separate it from the shank and this is what I have now. The ebay seller is going to refund my money and said do what I wish with the pipe. Seems to me the only solution is to glue it back together permanently and smoke it. What does everyone think? Also if I do glue it what type of glue should I use. I think I can glue the outsides and keep most the glue out of the bore.

Getting a refund for an invisible pipe is a great deal! :)

If the tenon is broken in half I can give you an idea how to do an easy fix. Find an old ball point pen with a metal refill. Cut off a short, maybe half inch, piece, wash it, and using super glue insert it in the stem half way and then glue the broken piece on being sure to match the break points. Let it day overnight. That's all there is to it. Without something to hold the two pieces together simply gluing the tenon together will result in a later failure. Good luck. puffy

I think a pipe repair person could replace the tenon or perhaps the whole stem for a reasonable price. Just be sure you tell him exactly what you want done, and how, and agree on a price in advance. Make sure the repair person has a good reputation for returning work on a brisk schedule. This isn't a major project by most standards. Otherwise the pipe appears in good shape.

10-4, thanks everyone. I found this Peterson 264 at a Antique store for $10 w/o a stem and sent it to Northwoods Pipe repair and for a total of $40 I have a really nice Peterson! So I'll send them this latest casualty.

This is why you don't ship a pipe connected, unless you have a pipe case that's designed to fit the pipe. A good pipe repair shop will fix that up no problem. If you're not wanting the 9mm filter option, then the person could most likely make it a standard tenon/mortise fitting. Good luck with your repair.

Thats a delrin 9mm tenon insert. It can be replaced by a competent pipe repairman.

This is Rustie's way of announcing that he has decided to ditch his career of highest-level troubleshooter and repairer of multimillion dollar computerized food preparation machines wherever in the world they might be (good thing humans invented jet airplanes), to become a PIPE REPAIRMAN!!!

He is so excited by the idea that any pipe sent to him in the next 30 days will be fixed and returned for free.

And in the box will be a free lottery ticket for a chance to win a free motorcycle (his personal favorite classic one, in fact) in a drawing on the Fourth of July, when there will be an open house at his shop.

That's some serious enthusiasm and committment, right there, eh?

So. Box up whatever you have that's in need of fixing and mail it today. You'll be glad you did. I promise!

If I could find a way to pay the bills repairing pipes I would do it. Unfortunately I don’t think pipe repair pays the same as my current gig.
