I'm familiar with the phenomenon. Too bad it doesn't work for cigars.
There are a couple of things that you can do to save a good cigar, too.
I have had some that I just laid down and then came back to next day. Most taste like they have been marinated in goat vomit.... BUT, if you will do these three things: a) blow through the cigar to remove as much smoke retention within the leaves as possible, b) using a guillotine cutter, cut off a generous portion of the foot of the stick, and then, c) wrap the rest in plastic or place in a plastic sandwich bag.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised how enjoyable it will be.
