I'm not sure if there are any other theater nuts like me on here, but this weekend I finally got to see Wicked live on broadway! It was absolutely phenomenal! I've owned the CD for years and know all the songs and the story, but the live performance was everything I could hope for and more! Truly a remarkable experience.

Wife and I saw it in San Antonio three years ago. It was more amazing than I could have imagined.

Me and the gal pal have tickets to see it at the Wharton Center in East Lansing, MI later this month. Couldn't get tickets last year but got em this year.

@herbinedave: that should make for a great experience during the summer! I'm out in Jacksonville, NC and thus far there isn't too much going on around here. Just one opera house that is about an hour and a half away. I used to work in a theater so I would get paid to watch musicals all night! Now that was the job to have!
@beewrangler2: you're in for a treat! I had chills the entire show (granted I've been dying to see it for 4.5 years now!) but the end of Act 1 is mind blowing! It's amazing the effects they can create during a live performance!

I was in the first row when we saw the original cast. I really think we would have been better of had we sat back a ways. There was so much going on stage that, in this case, being close was not optimum. Great show nevertheless.

@papipeguy: I'm jealous! The roles of Glinda and Elphaba were specifically written with Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel in mind. I would pay a high sum of money to see the original cast, though Christine Dwyer and Tiffany Haas did an outstanding job none the less!

I've seen Phantom of the Opera on broadway. I saw an amateur production of Fiddler on the roof. Next on my list is Book of Mormon and Avenue Q (if its still running? been a while since I looked)

I heard that the Wizard of Oz, to which Wicked! is a prequel, is a satire of the monetary system. Does anyone care to discuss this?

...or should I just quietly go off somewhere and clean my pipe? :puffy:

That's a new one on me, Cortez. I thought Frank Baum developed it from bedtime stories he told his children. I can't see the money angle but, hey; go for it.

i always hate when i stumble across stuff like this because i never can see the story the same way again after i find out too much about the inner meanings

I've been reading up on your conspiracy theories an I've decided to pretend you never said that! I'm too happy with the Wizard of Oz being a harmless story

Though it could be entirely true that the deeper meaning was intended 8O
