For me, smoking my pipe is like wallowing in a bathtub filled with warm water. It is totally relaxing. I clear my mind and just focus on the taste and the scent of the tobacco. It matters not which tobacco I'm smoking as long as I enjoy it. Occasionally I'll sip some ice tea after several puffs. I further enhance my enjoyment after the smoke by logging the experience in a wonderful series of databases which I have created on my iPhone. I do this while allowing my pipe to cool down before cleaning. The databases contain pipe info, tobacco info, pipe rotation info. etc. It is quite comprehensive. Another aspect of the hobby which I enjoy is acquiring a new pipe. This can be a bit expensive so I have to be careful. If anyone has any other suggestions for enhancing the experience, please let me know. Happy Puffing,
Zarnicky

I think logging all the data would be detrimental to my pleasure. But it's possible that all the info could come in handy in the future.
I'll never know, as I'm relying on a memory that will certainly become altered in the future with the passage of time.
Or, maybe that will give me latitude to make up any amount of pleasurable recollection I desire.

Cheers.

No need to wait for the pipe to cool down before cleaning if you immediately use hot tap water to flush the chamber and airway. Since what's in those areas is at their most fluid, it works a treat.

Unfortunately I've grown too lazy to clean right after a smoke, so I have a dozen pipes all in need of a cleaning. Offsetting that is that batch processing means less time spent per pipe!

Here is an example of an entry in my "Pipe" database. I have several other databases such as Tobacco, Pipe Log, and next tobacco to try.
