If you could introduce a pipe to anyone in the past, who would it be? (Deceased humans only. Those who didn't - to the best of your knowledge - smoke. Sentimental answers welcome. Wrong answers encouraged.)

Isaac Newton was in fact a huge pipe smoker. Legend has it that he once (accidentally, let's hope!) used some poor lady's thumb as a tamper when he was lost in thought.

Oh hell yeah. One of my favorite historical theories is that his ambition was primarily driven by keeping the various faction of Mongolians together and focused outside instead of fighting with each other. No idea if there is any truth to it but I like it and thinking about it. Also of course you know how many people are descendant from him specifically in our times.
