I purchased this pipe while on a visit to my daughter's at Thanksgiving. I went to Faders and I purchase this Estate. I had a replacement stem made. The original stem had "IRC" stamped on it. I assume that it was an Iwan Ries & Co house pipe. But what I would like to know is who made the pipe for them. The pipe is stamped with the word ARTISAN on the shaft. It smokes great. I have been trying to track down some information on it for a while and cannot find anything or than it is a Iwan Ries & Co house.

You might try sending IRC an e-mail. Someone there will probably know.

In fact, that's probably the only authoritative source.

I think at one time Edwards made pipes for IRC. If yours is one of them, it might have been made by Randy Wiley.

Thanks Cortez I did not think of trying that. I have sent off an email to Iwan Ries & Co.

I read somewhere - probably here - that IRC also used Savinelli blanks as their house burners for many years.
Your latest acquisition sorta', kinda' but maybe not really reminds me of the Sav 411, jfox.
Hope it smokes well for you. It's a great looking pipe!
Please let us know what you find out.

Bump. I never got a reply from Iwan Ries & Co. So if anyone has any information that would be great.

It appears that Iran Ries probably used several different pipe makers over the years for their rebranded pieces. The one I just picked up is a Savinelli. It's stamped Iwan Ries Stright Grain on one side and 111KS with Savinelli logo on the other.
The stem has a faint IRC stamp on it but since the pipe I picked up has a damaged button, I'm having that replaced with a new lucite one.
