Who is Sydney P. Ram?

I was at a local pipe store (not easy to find in LA) and I came across an estate pipe made by "Sydney P. Ram." The man behind the counter was too busy for me to bother with a question about a pipe a wasn't even going to buy, so I just left him alone. But now I'm curious...did I pass up something good?
It was 5 inches long, straight billiard, more 3.5 inches of briar shank and 1 inch of stem.

I didn't end up buying it, but referred it to a friend who did buy it. He is very pleased and needed a new pipe more than I, since his only one "broke." He was trying to make an adjustment to it and just sliced the thing in half. Some guys are better at buying tools than using them.
