Hello, jonahtke.
Welcome to the forum.
All the suggestions here are good, but honestly there's no way for us to know what kind of tobacco you will like, hence the suggestions to try a mild blend. Many of us started with 1Q.
If you can get a sampler package, see if you can try samples of:
1. an aromatic (1Q is good)
2. an English blend (I like Seattle Pipe Club's Seattle Evening)
3. a Virginia or Virginia/perique blend (maybe Villiger 1888 After Dinner)
4. and a Burley blend (I'll let others suggest).
Most any blends will do. But even more important than the blend you start with is the technique you start with. Any tobacco can be ruined by poor smoking technique. Please start by reading this:
Pipe Smoking Tips.
And let us know how you do. For many of us our first smoke was far from our best. As you learn what tobaccos you like and how to smoke them properly, your enjoyment will only increase.
