I've spent a lot of time catching up on here... especially reading old threads and I noticed inevitably that almost all of them are closed for further comment. I'm assuming that there is a time limit, and once a certain period is reached the thread is closed.

A lot of it happened during the forum update of September 2019. All threads prior to that date are locked.

Threads used to be closed fairly regularly after a certain amount of time. Now they seem to go on forever… ?

And here I just figured they were being locked cuz someone got butt-hurt over something someone said.

Threads get locked for a variety of reasons. Some veer off topic, some get political, and some like this one, get locked when the OP's question gets answered.
