don't need to be 'on' to see page. Now hidden stairs in US Capitol used in 1814 by british troops...Not on X got the Cliff Notes?
well i never... i stand corrected!
I don;t think they did name it for this but more probably something from German history like the end of the Siege of Hamburg in 1814 ??? Isn't Sillem's originally founded in Hamborg ?? or at least the mall in 1816 ???If it does refer this Charles Simms fellow and this 1814 surrender... what a curious and obscure thing to choose as a name for a tobacco blend.
You might be onto something there, Hillcrest. Add to that the Councilor 1695 and maybe it has something to do with Sillem's persons holding various civic positions? Total spitballing, of course!
There is a Sillem Family website and a history ... several were mayors and councilors ... you can read all about it here :You might be onto something there, Hillcrest.
