I’m thinking of buying this pipe. What do you suppose is on the meerschaum? Wondering so I know if the bowl is salvageable or normal?

Some were even made with "asbestos" bowls. Found one of those and wanted to buy it even though it was in a cracked gourd but the seller wanted $150 for it since he had "seen pipes like it go for that."

The "paint" around the chamber looks like an after-market application, and not professionally done. If it is a total bargain, it might be fun to try to fix it, but I certainly wouldn't pay regular Meerschaum prices for it. It will take some labor and time, and might not give good results. Personally, I wouldn't bother.

Yeah, same thinking. I’m offering a pretty low price. We’ll see.
