Some may find this post a bit macabre, but one I find necessary to visit. The time will come to all here that we will leave this life. I am sure that many of you just like myself have assembled a collection of tobacco more than one can enjoy in our lifetime. What preparations, advice or instructions have you made with those that will be tasked to deal with our treasure?

Most people accumulate clutter. We find family photos and once cherished items at flea markets after a home is unceremoniously emptied of its contents. Sad but true. — I would imagine any tobacco would find itself on a flea market table or discarded.

On a lighter note, some of our house-fires will leave a room note of perplexing and epic proportion.

I wonder what 30 lbs of Granger will do to an unsuspecting neighborhood?

I envision soccer moms with wrinkled noses and dirty looks pointing at my house, clergy blessing themselves, children with soiled diapers, firefighters scratching their heads and an old fellow on a park bench several blocks away saying to himself, “my grandpop used to smoke this…”

We are in the process of trying to slim down our accumulation of unnecessary household items…it’s been liberating. Other than a tote full of life’s memories and sentimentalities I’ve managed to get rid of most of my useless and burdensome ?. It’s all about perspective I guess. I’d planned on leaving instruction with my wife/children to send it to someone like @pipestud. However, as of right now, my wife would consider my wealth of ? & pipes useless clutter unfortunately. ?☕

My son is a pipe smoker. If I go before him, he gets all my pipes and tobacco. If he goes before me I'll keep his pipes and tobacco. All of his cigars...I'll give away.

Nothing. Just mentioned to my wife yesterday when she made a somewhat morbid but in jest comment about what would happen to my "little cellar" that she could dump it all in the fireplace and give the neighbors a treat.

In my opinion we have more things than we really need.

One of my goals is to drastically reduce the amount of stuff I own. Buy less things but of higher quality.

I started to reduce my collections, Watches and pipes. The idea was to sell 75% of my pipes, keeping only the high quality pipes and those with sentimental value.

The pandemic complicated things and then inflation shot up in my country, which made it even more complicated. If I sell a pipe I must immediately reinvest the money, since if I keep it it loses its value.

I don't have a large stock of tobacco and probably bought a little more as it will tend to be more expensive and harder to find.

20 years ago, when I used to go to a pipe club, I would have told my wife that in the event of my death, each of my daughters and her should take a pipe as a souvenir and put the rest in a shoe box and take it to the pipe club and Let them share them.

Today I have a few smoking friends left who would surely get some pipes.

If I had a reliable reseller like the ones mentioned in this forum, I would write down the contact details and tell my wife that I sent him all the pipes as soon as they put me underground.

My kids know about pipestud, 4noggins, selling them selves on different sites like this one. They were told to gouge the piss out of every one they can. My oldest daughter and younger son will set the prices and then my other 2 kids will package stuff up and then ship it. There will be no ones or two's, I told them minimum of 5 tins depending on what it is.

They will have fun with it as my younger son is just like me, he knows how to make a buck and leave nothing on the table.

@cigrmaster What I want to know is whether you are leaving a note for all of us which will finally tell us the last blend you have been secretly still our purchasing?!

If I die in the next decade, so while all the kids are still at school and stuff, I assume the best plan would be to send my pipes to the states and to sell my cellar locally. I’d get a friend to sort this out and put aside a few things for sentimental keepsakes. I’m guessing that would pay the bills till the kids leave home.

If I live to a ripe old age, then all that will be left is a bunch of homegrown leaf. Burn me with it if there are no smokers left in the family will be the orders. As for pipes, maybe an antique store here would finally be interested in them as old world curiosities.

I stopped buying any tobacco except for certain aged tins at a certain price. I am no competition for any of the better flakes out there. My cellar was complete in 2013, but then I just had to add a few more blends like Salty Dogs Curly Block, Butera Dark Stoved and Savinelli Doblone d'Oro. I refuse to taste any more new blends that may come out.
