Also, for the white one... I think it's Turkish Meerschaum? Is it press, blocked? What's the diff. between pressed and blocked?

What's the diff. between pressed and blocked?

Block meerschaum is a solid block of meerschaum that has been carved to create the pipe. Pressed meerschaum is made from meerschaum dust, or particulate, that is pressed together with a binding agent to form a block which is then carved.

Well, they could be real cheap! And I believe you could "refinish" the white one with plain old sandpaper. (while righting the stem!)

Pressed sounds like a Meerschaum version of Brylon. Only buy it if you just have to have it.

My opinion is that the pressed stuff is rubbish, not good for pipes, the lesser quality. There is plenty of meerschaum in Turkey to make pipes from the real stuff. One can tell the fake pressed stuff by weight: a real meerschaum is much lighter and, consequently, tends to smoke cooler. I'm not sure I would ever want to smoke one made from pressed glue and stuff. Can't imagine heating that up.
