What type of tobacco is your favorite. I'm not referring to a specific blend I'm referring to the tobacco. I.e Virginia, Latakia, Perique etc.
My favorite is Latakia.

That's sorta like asking me what's my favorite genre of music. It depends on my mood but aslo my taste are changing. I can say this: I've really enjoyed any flake tobacco I've tried so far.

The only individual leaf type I could smoke by itself is Virginia.

There's probably a good Oriental out there that might work too, but I wouldn't know.
As for the tobacco type that I am most thankful for having, it's Perique.

I tried a twist/rope Virginia the other day, and I have to admit that it tasted like what it looked like.
However, I have to say, that I like the way Cavendish burns, and tastes.

I love Latakia, Perique, Virginia blends, and Oriental/Turkish tobaccos but Cavendish blends do it for me.

As long as its pipe tobacco, I usually like it. ;-) like some other posters here, it depends on my mood at the time.

Cavendish or cavendish & Virginias. I like Latakia, but as an occasional thing rather than every time. My foray into VaPer territory tasted good but I got the spins.

For me, its more of what I don't like...or more accurately, what I haven't been able to get to work for me. I've tried half a dozen VA flakes and just can't get them to sing for me. My understanding from reading other boards is that since I tend to like big, bold Englishes and smooth aromatics, my tastes don't really register the subtle flavors of most VA's.

I'm with the rest of the wishy washy nonanswerers...depends on mood, weather, what pipes are sufficiently rested and available for smoking...etc. When I started smoking I quickly moved from local aromatics to English/Balkan type tobaccos and fell in love with latakia. I then tried, and soon fell in love with, perique but could never understand straight Virginias. One day an old timer, and rather dapper fellow, suggested I try some of his Marlin Flake and explained breath smoking to me. I walked out of that shop with a tin of Marlin Flake, Dark Star, Full Virginia Flake, Dunhill Flake and Three Year Matured and a dumbfounded look on my face at the realization that I was a Virginia lover. After 13 years of pipe smoking I am now finally getting around to reexploring aromatics, burleys and cavendish blends. I have smoked cigarettes and cigars, I have dipped and chewed loose leaf and plugs, and I keep a tin of Fribourg and Treyer Bordeaux snuff on the go. In summary, I love tobacco in just about all forms, but the only 2 that have stuck with me are the pipe and fine snuffs.
