I saw this on ebay and couldn't resist it for $12. It's such an odd shape, but it was familiar to me. I had this exact shape pipe back in the mid 1980s, only it didn't have the saddle stem. Oh, and it was also a Sasieni 4 Dot. If I remember right the pipe was bought at a Tinder Box when the Sasieni name had been just re-introduced. They were selling 4 Dot pipes in smooth and sandblast finishes, and I was told this shape was called a Banker. I sold the pipe many years ago for unknown reasons, but later thought I should have kept it as it was a very comfortable pipe to hold. I have never seen this shape again until I saw this one for sale. I don't know if it came from the same shop that was making Sasieni pipes back then, but the shape of the bowl is identical. It's very thick and has this bulge to the front, but seems to be styled as a bulldog to some degree. It's only stamped Made in London England, and nothing else. It has some odd shaping on the top and bottom of the shank where it meets the bowl, as it kind of twists off to the side.
This particular example needed a little TLC, the bowl had a small fill that had fallen out I guess, some charing on the bowl top, and the stem was heavily oxidized. But with a little elbow grease, I managed to get it looking and smoking great again. I like the bowl size, not too deep, and it has a nice open draw. Tried it out with some Bald Headed Teacher, and it smoked very nice and cool with no gurgle or problems.
Has anyone ever seen a shape like this before? Yeah, I know some of you are probably hoping you never do...

Thanks for the nice pix!

Nice restoration.

I like jkrug's suggestion, bullmato.
Didn't the idea of a "chin" start with Dunhill? ...or maybe I'm thinking of Castello.
