I was doing some light house cleaning of the cellar the other weekend - jars and tins, old and new; some dated precisely, others roughly.
I found a can of “Early Morning Pipe” - Dunhill not Peterson’s - with a few bowls left in it. I had no recollection of having this at all; I can’t even recall having smoked it but there it is, dated to 2015 in my own fair hand, so an old example but certainly not ancient by anybody’s definition.
It was the “out of production” part that interested me and it got me to thinking - what is the most out of production tobacco that you have in your collection?
Have you got a long gone tin of Ogden’s St Julien or a Gallaher’s Rich Dark Honeydew or two? Maybe you’re a plug man and you’ve got some Murray’s Warrior Plug knocking round next to Mick McQuaid’s example of the art form?
Maybe you’ve got some brand/s that I’ve never even heard of?
Anyway, I thought it might be an interesting question to pose.
happy pipes.
