I tagged along with the Boss on a trip to the local super grocery store simply because I needed more jars for the cellar. There I noticed several pouches of Amphora Original and always wanting to try it, asked the counter lady for a pouch.

It was listed as $14.99.

I laughed and shook my head, suggested the pouches were in the wrong slot. She looked it up. It was $14.99...for a pouch. Ostensibly an OTC blend at. I was like, wow, f*** this and walked away.

Really, is this the norm everywhere else? I know nothing of Amphora save that Mac Baren took over the brand and that quite a few pipers here like it.

Depends on where you live, man. Without taxes, most pipe tobacco tins are $10-12. At a local B&M here in the Bay Area, a tin of And So to Bed cost me $22.95 and a tin of 1792 flake cost me $17.95. Taxes are high here, but far worse in other places. I buy most of my tobacco online, but like to support my locals as well, and sometimes they have hard-to-find blends. Something like Amphora is so easily available and cheap online, so I probably wouldn't pay that price, though.
