I bought these pipes at a garage sale. I have no idea what they are, or their worth. The markings are hard to read. Can anyone help identifying?
This one looks like it was never used.

There is a small symbol.

There is some lettering that is also hard to read. Looks like IM--- Also a small chip at top of the bowl.

The first pipe was made by Pioneer it is briar with a meerschaum liner in the bowl, second pipe is more than likely what is known as a basket pipe made from imported briar and whatever country it came from, these were in baskets on the counter at most pipe shops everywhere. The third pipe script eludes me so no help ther, the fourth pipe has been repaired which is why the script is only half there and metal band placed on to repair it. Regards.

Your third pipe appears to say "made in England". Could be a Sasieni but that part of the script is a little tough. Get it in the right light and you should be able to read it

Going by the logo marks index available at www.pipephil.eu , the first pipe's "P" doesn't seem to match the one shown as the Pioneer logo. It looks to me, and I realize my opinion isn't worth all that much, to be an Auld Erin logo. Auld Erin (Old Ireland) was a brand of pipes manufactured by Peterson.

Thanks for the quick responses. I do appreciate the info.
Mr. Fancy Pants, PM me if you are interested in buying that pipe. Remember, there is a small nick at top of the bowl. You can see it in the pic.
Thanks again all,

That first one ain't a Peterson? Got the p-lip and the P on the stem....
Third one is a Sasieni patent (been researching Sasieni lately) with a replacement stem. You can clearly see the "20" of the patent number.

There is a P on the bit but its in upside down (second picture down). Look at the picture showing the bottom of the pipe and you can see the P there. It's a Peterson for certain.

As Gloucesterman said, the stem is on upside down. If it were rotated 180 I'm sure we'd see that hole on top.

As others have said, no. 3 is a pre-war Sasieni, the Hendon shape, without the original stem.

Great finds there. I agree with the first one being a Pete, and the Sasieni I restored one and the script looks the same. Hard to tell on the 4th one, looks like the shank was banded at some point.

That Peterson stem doesn't match the pipe, and looks to be a marriage. I'd be very surprised if the stummel is Peterson, and would be clearly marked if it was.
