Cup O Joes offers a line of rosewood pipes for $19.99 each. They are around 5" long,

in various slightly unusual shapes (except for one Dublin, I would call it). I've seen rosewood

pipes other places, but more sketchy places, like eBay. Cup O Joes' rosewood pipes come with

a one-pipe pipe rest and a a sock/bag included. Does anyone have experience with rosewood,

as compared to other non-briar woods like pear or maple? I've looked at them over the years

and just feel puzzled. Does anyone know where these are made? Cup O Joes text is not so

expansive, not always a lot of information. (Right now I'm into small briar pipes, Group 1 and

2, so I don't expect to own a rosewood pipe to comment on it any time soon, but I wondered.)

I'm the Forums member with the Mountain Laurel pipes, which I can attest are fine smokers and

as good as briar in every way I can discern; but Mountain Laurel is a real specialty item and

not readily available, as near as I can tell.

I have one made by Brebbia and it smokes fine but does have an odd taste initially which dissipates once a cake forms, they can smoke hot so sipping is the norm for them, the bowl on this pipe is not removable.

fishnbanjo, that is the coolest kind of avant guard pipe I've seen, in a long time, or at all. It looks like a

light bulb a little, with the screw threads at the bottom. It's a nice looking piece of wood, as well.

I've scrolled through a number of Brebbia offerings online, and seen them at shows, but never that one.

I think it's a little beyond my sphere, but great to see! Those are interesting points on how rosewood

smokes. Since the COJ rosewoods are a minimal investment, maybe I will put those pipes on my back list.

Yours is a really great pipe, a real creative tour de force. Thank you for posting that photo.
Anyone else tried rosewood?

My first wood pipe was rosewood. Like fishnbanjo, I can confirm that the taste at first is not like briar and it does smoke hot. That being said, for a budget pipe it isn't bad. Mine broke recently, the tenon snapped off in the shank. The stem was made of cheap plastic. You get what you pay for I guess.
