I really enjoy the Gold Virginia Flake and smoke it as a first smoke of the day quite often. I cannot wait until it ages so I can see how it develops. I have only smoked it fresh because I only discovered it back in August. I love the fact that it is ready to smoke right out of the tin with no drying time.
Bradly if you like this one you need to grab some Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia Plug it is also a great milder flake.
roth, I do not find that is has nearly the grassy flavor as the Orlik GS. Funny how tastes can be so different. The Orlik grassiness goes away after a decade or so for me.

roth, I agree about the CVP being more flavorful than the Wessex. It is why I have 66 tins of the CVP in stock as compared to 15 of the Wessex Gold. I actually do need to get my numbers up on the Wessex because I do believe it will age very nicely. I know for fact how well the CVP ages as I still have one last 11 year old tin left. I smoked a couple of those 11 year old tins over the summer and it is amazing at how it turns jet black after a decade. The flavors also get more rounded and fig like.It sweetens up some as well and there is more nose to it. My old tins were the small rectangular ones mot the square ones we see now. I don't know how that will affect the aging process but it will be interesting to see.
I recently scored some 2002 Solani 633 and I was amazed at how much stronger the perique flavor is than when fresh. It is a sublime smoke with ten years. It too darkened a lot and the tin note was just heavenly. I have 65 tins of that put away and will be getting more.
