Just got a couple of these in the mail and I've always read that they come wrapped in cellophane. The two I got just cake in a thin ziploc baggie with the stickers on it. Is that the norm now? Not a deal breaker but damn, that packaging sucks. I was expecting them to be wrapped like Salty Dogs is.

Interesting. Not that the older package was much better, but looks like the new bricks need to be jarred or mylared upon receipt if cellaring.

Possibly plastic shortages. Half of my company is currently shut down due to them.
@Chasing Embers @Jacob74 I've been recommended this one for the Sealed Knot / English Civil War re-enactment, along with @simong's suggestion of SG Cannon Plug. Do you think there's going to be more musket fire or clay pipe smoke where I'm concerned???

If you ain’t smoking canon plug in your clay, you can’t call yourself the clay king, let alone a red coat bro. Load up that plug and head down to the blacksmith’s to fire her up

@Ahi Ka I'll have to get some for re-enactment smoking then:
Would go well in the clay pipes!

@Ahi Ka @UB 40 recommends I get some Sillem's Musketeer as he say's it's the perfect tobacco for me - maybe they should redo the tin art if I join the Earl of Manchester's Regiment:)
I love the tin art and would re-use the empty tin for my firelighting kit, match cord and loose Gawith Hoggarth.
I'll have to try the Wessex Gold Brick as well.
My list of blends to try in my clay pipes are:
1) SG Cannon Plug
2) Wessex Gold Brick
3) Sillem's Musketeer.
I've smoked a 25g block of Cannon Plug in my clay pipes before but not at re-enactments as there wasn't one at the time @simong recommended it to me:)
I was smoking SG Brown Twist at the Battle of Nantwich re-enactment and C&D Yorktown with the Redcoats & Revolutionaries at Cromford Mill.

@Ahi Ka Would the Cannon Plug be suitable for a smoke-off or would I be better doing it with GH twist or St Bruno??? The organised clay pipe smoking competition I found on YouTube uses St Bruno Ready Rubbed so I'd go with this one as a baccy choice as well. Need to wear the redcoat though:)

If we smoke some st Bruno that would at least deter the hoard of sheilas chasing @simong

I’ll send you a message with the list of blends I have open and we can go from there. I like the idea of a rope or plug as I think the way one chooses to prep their bowl is all part of it.

I'm actually surprised to see this love for Gold Brick. Granted, I happen to like red VA much more than yellow, but even still, really didn't care for the brick.
Once again, taste is a funny thing.
