So I've been trying to decide what my next PAD acquisition was going to be and finally decided I was going to get the Peterson System Ebony 317. Armed with the knowledge that the pipe can be had for considerably cheaper buying from a UK dealer and having it shipped Intl, I went on the hunt.
Waisting my entire day (instead of doing the work I'm SUPPOSED to be doing), I scour the internets and couldn't get to satisfactory result.
...In the end, I ordered a Peterson Killarney Ebony B10 and a Savinelli Vaniglia 614 from an Italian site instead. Go figure! :) :puffpipe:

That's more like it,lol! By the way, I have both a Peterson Shannon "B-10" and a Savinelli Roma Lucite "614". They are both great pipes, but I'd have to say that the Sav is my favorite of the two. I'll post some pics of them for you.

By the way, my Sav "614" is my most deeply bent pipe, but it's also one of my top 5 bent pipes! I don't use the filters, never have and never gonna, but some people swear by them. I think you'll really enjoy both of those pipes!

Thanks, I KNOW I'll enjoy at least the Savinelli since I already have another 614, it's the Killarney that will be the new experience.

Brown delivered some amore from Italy today!
My 2 beauties have arrived and they look great (pics coming soon). The Killarney turned out to be a p-lip, though their picture showed the fishtail...But upon trying out the plip, I REALLY LIKE it!
I took it out for a spin and indeed it smokes cool and the draw is easy, but unfortunately there was a lot of crosswind on my porch at the time which was like stoking the fires in the bowl constantly and eventually overheated the baccy and soured the experience at the time. Hopefully this evening things will have calmed down and I'll be going for round 2.
The Sav Vaniglia is also an ebony and ivory beauty. Where the Killarney is pure ebony black through and through, the Sav is actually black stain on briar and you can still make out the grain of the wood. Very nice! Savinelli advertises this pipe to have a vanilla flavor coating in the bowl so that the first few bowl have a nice vanilla tinge to it, and indeed the pipe has a sweet vanilla sticky residue in there. Can't wait to light it up and try it out!
The filter girth of the Sav took me a bit by surprise (9mm) though, I wasn't expecting the thing to be as fat as a typical tamper!! I'll be trying it with the filter, but I expect I'll be using it more sans the filter.
...I ended up also ordering the 317 from another site (in Standard Smooth, not ebony...As no one seems to have the ebony). Now that I KNOW I like plip, the 317 will likely become the pipe I take to work (if not, then probably the Killarney).
My PAD demon seems appeased currently, I hope it will stay that way for awhile!

Very nice! Man, I haven't bought a new pipe in sooo long. I keep buying estates and fixing them up. I see these nice, shiny new ones and start missing the puppy smell. lol I'm gonna have to put a new pipe on the Christmas list.
I doubt that PAD demon will be appeased for long!
