Yesterday there was a broad daylight organized theft + armed robbery that was caught on film by a bystander and witnessed by many people.

When I say "caught on film" I mean from only six feet away or so.

And when I say "armed" I mean the gun is fully visible and being pointed at the camera-holder.

In addition to the theft and robbery, a large amount of vehicle damage was cause by the perpetrator during his (her?) escape from "flooring the gas" to get away and bouncing off several parked cars.

HOWEVER...

To protect the privacy and delicate feelings of the armed robber during the commission of a laundry list of aggravated felonies, his (her?) clearly visible "portrait grade" face was blurred out in both the video and stills that were released to the public.

criminals are often idiots. I'd blur the face too on the very real chance they're enough of an idiot to think that means they got away with it. Ever hear the one about the bank robbers that heard lemon juice can be used as invisible ink so they covered their faces with invisible ink thinking it would work better then a mask.
Also the chance the shits staged too. I remember a while back rappers getting robbed on video to up their street cred. A few of those videos where so super clearly staged as in funny how everyone seemed to know how to hit their marks and the one where the mugger had such a viscous punch just the wind from him punch near the other guys face caused him pain and distress (think pro wrestling close up punches).
Oh and we're the least likely to get killed or robbed and the most afraid of it.

I saw this yesterday and am in full agreement with you. I'm SHOCKED this or a car just driving over them hasn't happened sooner. I have zero problems with protesting, hell it's our God given right. But do it on the frigging sidewalk! And if they purposefully block traffic and prevent people (and 1st responders) from getting to where they need to go (essentially keeping them hostage)...and if police refuse to clean the trash off the streets, then they are asking for more of this.

The need to perform mundane aspects of your life like going to the shops with a concealed fire arm seems alien to me. Society where guns are all encompassing. Doesn't your lauded second ammendment say something about people with firearms being in militias? Is every gun owner in a militia?

It not about vigilantism, it is about self-defense. Most big cities are riddled with crime because DAs rarely put career criminals away for long term sentences. When there are countless criminals with rap sheets thicker than a Stephen King novel, it's not about being a vigilante, it's about not being a victim. The added problem here is the media. Day in and day out, you hear about gun crimes and how more gun control is the answer, but you know what never makes the top story? The millions of crimes prevented by a good guy (or gal) with a gun. Only a select few new outlets will run those reports.

Doesn't your lauded second ammendment say something about people with firearms being in militias? Is every gun owner in a militia?

This is often done to avoid the perp getting an eyewitnesses identification suppressed, and to avoid multiple false reports a neighbor or coworker or random person is the perp.

The police have identified the perp. The police don’t want the general public to have their image in their mind.

I promise they aren’t doing them a favor.

At trial those videos will not be blurred, and will convict the perp.
