I have 25 albums with 1,600 photo's stored on the "Webshots.com" online photo storage site. Today, they announced they are switching to "Smile" which will be more of an Instagram type site, where photos are only viewable by folks who are your friends. That won't work for me or for sharing on a forum. This stinks as I've been using Webshots for probably close to 10 years. Guess I'm lucky it lasted that long and it was free, so I can't complain (but this !@#$#$ stinks!)

Can anyone recommend another site to host photos and albums?

I use photobucket, Just started using them for this forum. Seems to be a good site.
I would back up your photos ASAP, as things in the computer world change quickly.

Thanks guys, I was thinking Photobucket or Flickr and will have to investigate both.
Of course, I have all of my photos on my hard drive and backed up to another external drive (back-up, duh!). So, while I won't lose anything, getting those 1,600 photos back on web access is going to be a major PITA.
Webshots has rec'd a TON of angry emails, so now I'm hoping they leave the site as-is, but I only hold out a glimmer of hope.

Not a fan of photobucket. I think their interface is clunky and their "look" is something to be desired. Flickr has a nice drag and drop interface, very easy to make photo sets and folders with naming conventions.
Plus, Flickr integrates into websites easier with sharing and/or plugins. You'll see alot more "share" type apps done with Flickr than you will ever see with photobucket. In fact, this site (forum) that pipes magazine uses is a wordpress driven site....and there are lots of Flickr plugins for it.

I have my own webserver and use Gallery to manage my photo collection.
For quick image shares, I use imgur.com. However, if you want more than 225 images or images that are over 1mb in size, you'll have to go with their "pro" account option at $23.95/year.
Picasa may be your best bet; it's part of Google's services and includes 1gb of free storage. If you're a Google+ user, any image that is less than 2048×2048 don't actually count towards that storage credit. Pretty neat.

Thanks guys. I'll have to evaluate all of these options (Photobucket, Flickr and Picassa). I do like on Webshots that I can easily share a photo onto a forum without having to use the "IMG" interface. I use that feature a lot. I have new pipe pix that need posted, so I guess I better get busy....

Hmm, I downloaded and installed Picassa and Photobucket. The Uploaded program for Photobucket wouldn't open, I require some kind of NET framework. So, back to Picassa. Testing a photo I uploaded.........

Ok, that took three tries, but I'm successful! (sneak peak of pipes from the CORPS show..) I'll try Picassa for a while. Thanks for the input, now I begin massive uploading of pictures...

If you want to share your photos "album" style, Google Picasa is probably the best, especially for large collections.
But for quick links and sharing on the forums, IMGUR.COM is a boiled down version of Photobucket with no ads and less bells and whistles, so it works quicker.

It looks like I'm going to run into problem on storage size. I added maybe 30-couple photos to Picassa and I'm already at 4% of my 1 GB capacity. Does any of the other programs have larger storage. With 1600 photos on Webshots, I was only at a couple percent of my total capacity (at no cost). Perhaps that might be why they changed Webshots....

That's an idea Dave.
Testing how Flickr works:

Hmm, Flickr is easier to post with than Piccas.
But, a lot of restrictions and I already used 19% of my monthly upload alottment.....
It looks like I'll most likely have to pay to host that many photos.

I have a 2 terabyte portable hard drive for storing photos and a back up 160 gb hard drive as well. Maybe you should think about getting something like that. I think the 2 terabyte cost me about 70 bucks about a year and a half ago.

I have plenty of storage and back up. I just need a web resource to host photos. I photograph all of my pipe restorations and link to those photos on this and other forums. But, without a place to host them, I have no ability to share them on the forums.

I understand. I just don't have that much to upload. Mostly photography that I do for enjoyment for myself.
