I have a good friend whose wife and himself was able to retire and close their law office for hitting a huge lick against the State of Missouri for negligent highway design.

And in rural Missouri where if a kid gets cancer from the school janitor having him remove asbestos that’s dismissed as God’s will, I was amazed!.:)

Raise your hands if you are old enough to remember when highway engineers buried the guard rails on the interstates. The idea was to launch the cars over.

Then later on they dug them up and made them collapse on impact.

Where my friend retired was, where Highway 5 dead ends at Highway 52 in Morgan County.

A car went right straight South at the T intersection that’s an interchange today.

There’s a great big catch barrier beyond the interchange where the family perished or were crippled for life.

My friend had a great closing argument.

It’s been said how to best judge a state is the condition of their prisons.

Shouldn’t it rather be, the condition of their intersections?

Holy crap! How does that happen by accident? You gotta wonder if it was intentional.

Probably was on cruise control and not paying any attention...but still impressive that it managed to hit the ramp just right.

Almost certainly cruise control and texting (or equivalent attention-diverting Phone Activity).

After all, away from the city, smooth highway, low traffic, great weather... what could go wrong?

In 41 years of law practice I represented exactly one client who injured a family when he was besotted drunk.

And I kept waiting for just one drunk driver to injure one of my clients, but it never happened.

Not paying attention causes an overwhelming percentage of accidents.

As for my one drunk driver that slightly injured some innocent people, who weren’t paying attention and hit his truck when he made a sudden stop for a dog crossing the road, I had him a suspended sentence worked out, and I waited and waited for him to show up for the plea.

Secretary’s Day was the day previous and he’d sent beautiful flowers for my assistants.

At the end of the docket, the prosecutor saw me waiting and said, your client isn’t coming.

He was found dead a few days ago. He’d ordered some flowers, and must have hit his head on the corner of his kitchen table, and bled to death.

My jaw dropped, and I said why didn’t you tell me sooner?

He said, to give you another impossible war story to tell.:)

If you've got an extra $300,000.00 laying around you can pre-order one.

I only spend the big bucks on things that appreciate. This usually means real estate and by design excludes anything technological. I'll give em a few years and roll my $300k over a few times first. As my snowball grows and the prices on these come down significantly, maybe we'll meet in the middle one day. ;)

We had assemblies at school sixty years ago where flying cars and television phones and household robots were supposed to be commonplace by the year 2000.

It has given rise to a saying

“Where’s my flying car?”.:)

The problem with all flying cars until modern times has been, the average car owner would kill himself several times a year learning to fly it.:)

With artificial intelligence and self driving cars, it’s now thinkable.

But the driver is going to have to strictly be a passenger.

And gasoline aviation engines that need $30,000 overhauls every 2,000 hours are impossible for mass market flying cars.

Xxxx

In 2023, about 94 million motor vehicles were produced worldwide, a 10% increase from the previous year.

Explanation
  • In 2022, 85.4 million motor vehicles were produced globally, a 5.7% increase from 2021.

  • China is the world's largest producer of passenger cars, accounting for nearly one third of the world's passenger vehicle production in 2023.

    • Other top car producing countries include Japan, India, and South Korea.
