And I very well might pick some up now with SP's 20% off all W.Ø. Larsen tins. I haven't been too willing to pay $25 for a full 100g tin of it until now, but I'm having trouble deciding which one I want to purchase. My tobacco budget is quite likely already over spent, and I'm reaching for this one just because of the sale and a feeling like the time is finally right to pick one up.
So, in my browse through all three that they have to offer, I can't fully decide which one to pick up for myself, so I'm putting it out there to all of you fine fellows that might have tried any of the following blends and can tell me what you thought about it. It just might help me make a decision. The reviews on SP's are mixed for a few of these. I'm at odds with a few of the well respected gents I know around here over a couple blends I find fantastic, but they find just meh, so I'm just curious what any others here might think of the blends.
The choices are:
1864 Perfect Mixture

The 1864 mixture consists of carefully selected Virginia tobaccos from the best tobacco fields on three continents. The balanced Virginia tobaccos are blended with fermented Black Cavendish and premium Burley from the USA, Malawi, and Mexico. A seductive flavor is added to ensure a generous and delicate taste - truly a Perfect Mixture from Larsen.
Old Fashioned

Old Fashioned by Larsen is a blend of Virginia and Burley leaf that has been selected from the best tobacco fields in the world. No effort has been spared as one part of the blend has been pressed into cakes and aged, while the other part is finished in different cuts. Finally the different parts are blended and top-flavored by hand.
Signature: Vintage Mixture

Signature Vintage Mixture is a superb Danish mixture, blended to perfection with natural Virginia from the best areas in Malawi and Virginia and ripe Burley from Mexico and Kentucky. To achieve the delicate smoothness Larsen added mellow black Cavendish. The Burley tobaccos have been pressed into cakes and matured, sliced and then rubbed out. The Virginia leaves have been cut in a broad cross cut to please the eye and the palate. This unique blend has been enhanced with a subtle note of natural sweetness yielding a mellow rich smoke.
As stated, it can be hard for me to make a decision based off reviews I read on tobaccoreviews.com, but I'd just enjoy hearing what any of you have to say about these blends. I wish they had a few others that I've seen elsewhere that have caught my eye, but alas, the three above are all they currently have. Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Stay away from this brand!! Run away from the light...do not let the ads and sales drag you into the light!!
No, seriously, I've tried all three and I think they all suck...just my opinion though. Probably the only one I would deem worthy of smoking (much less purchasing again) is the 1864...but with that one I had to mix it with Lane 1-Q to get it to taste unlike a burning camp fire, lol. Save your money...buy something you know you like...again, just my opinion...

Okay, this is exactly what I'm talking about! Very good to know. Sometimes they make them seem so good and the descriptions sound so enticing. Of course they're supposed to in order to get people to buy it, but I almost never heard anyone talk about these very much. Thank you for your honest opinion! Any more like these, and I might very well walk away, but it never hurts to test the water before a plunge.

Oh, I totally agree! Experimentation is part of the fun! I, unfortunately, bought these at regular price, which I think at the time was about $18 per...meaning this was a $54 experiment, much of which ending up in the trash...again, except the 1864 which I mixed with Lane 1-Q.

You know what they say about opinions. I've been thinking of trying these too, but after reading reviews decided to hold off for now. Especially with Christmas here. I'll spend the money on gifts.

Oh yeah, I do know, but they also help me to make the decision to walk away if I want to. If I walk, I may still buy something else, just because. Seeing as how a consensus is beginning to form, I'm inching away from it a little more. Just thought it was a pretty good price for something I have wanted to give a shot. I'll give it through this weekend to see. If I'm swayed away, then perhaps some vanilla flake is in my future instead...
Good to know Anthony. I was heavily leaning toward that one. From what I've read, not very many were impressed with the Old Fashioned.

I have decided that they shall all be toasted at my house or the office. The only time I shall not toast one, is if they're fresh from the oven! Mostly, I just love the crispiness any bread gets by being toasted, with the exception of biscuits and cornbread.

Yeah, toasted cornbread just sounds like a cardinal sin! I love the crust on the bottom that a well greased cast iron pan makes, especially with a bowl pintos and hog back, but toasting it in the oven? LOL

Old fashioned was... meh. I can't say I really disliked it, but I've only purchased one tin of it. In my opinion, it may be worth revisiting. My experience with W.O. Larsen blends is you must not smoke them too fast and hot. Otherwise they will indeed bite and taste awful. But this should be practiced with any blend.

Currently smoking discontinued W. O. Larsen blends and I find them to be highly underated. This is top quality Danish tobacco. When it comes to tobacco, price is not a deciding factor, at least for me. Enjoy your journey!
