I want to write a book on the subject of the tobacco pipe. In it I want to include a chapter with quotes of pipe smoker wisdom (not necessarily pipe related) and I would greatly appreciate general knowledge on the subject to include. Differing opinions are encouraged. Any who wish to contribute will be sourced (as requested or with their forum username).

"My best advice to pipe smokers is to take most advice they get with a grain of salt. There are some universal truths, like smoking slow and not packing your pipe too tightly, but there are some things that you just have to figure out with patience and perseverance. In this regard, pipe smoking is a lot like sex; in order to get good at it, you are probably going to have to embarrass and maybe even hurt yourself a little in the process (those who have gotten true tongue bite will know what I'm talking about). In this regard, pipe smoking is a lot like life in that you have to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes. Pipe smoking isn't an addiction, it's a philosophy and an art, and can teach us patience, the importance of technique and preparation, and enrich our lives through a calming, relaxing ritual."

Happy to help. Writing a book is a daunting task. Been doing it for years now. If you want a little moral support, have any questions through the whole process, or just maybe want someone to proofread, etc., don't be afraid to shoot me a PM or an email. Im always happy to help out fellow writers.

Thank you, this is my first serious crack at it. I figured pipe smoking was a good place to start for me. Its a real passion of mine and has more than enough subject matter to cover.
