Evening all. I am all out of tobacco, and I am panning a trip to my local shop to get some fresh. What should I get? I like Virginias, I enjoyed Orlik deluxe bullseye, loved Nightcap, not a massive fan of aromatics, didn't think much of Erinmore flake, SG Golden Glow was pretty good. So what's it going to be? Something a bit meaty, not too sweet. The good stuff. Recommendations anyone?

Dunhill My Mixture 965 has a robust flavor and a little more nuance than Nightcap. For Virginia,

McClelland 5100 Virginia Red Cake is elegant. So many to choose from. Enjoy.

Punchbowle. That's like a big bowl of stew on a dark and cold night. It's not a popular tobacco, god alone knows why.

Whatever you smoked all up, you must have enjoyed, so get more of that first for your "cellar", and then try something new.

leeharvey,
You ask a frequent question deserving of an honest answer. It is difficult to answer without "tooting" my own horn. But, I personally like mildly aromatic blends. The "late" Craig Tarler of C&D and I set out to create a mildly aromatic "light English-Style" blend containing Latakia. I use Latakia like I use pepper on eggs. Just enough to know that it is there for the smoker, but not enough to offend those around you. It is not a sweet blend by any means. We did just that with my Capt. Bob's Blend. I would suggest that you first read the reviews at www.tobaccoreviews.com before ordering from smokingpipes.com tinned or bulk. I think you will find that there are a minority of such blends worth considering. I will also suggest aromatics by McClelland. While I have nothing to do with them, their aromatics are excellent with true tobacco flavor as well. Good luck in you search!

Guys, this has been really helpful. I will take this list to my local store and see which of your suggestions are available in the uk. We can usually get the dunhill blends and Rattray without difficulty but I'm not sure about the likes of G L Pease. I will let you know what I opted for and how I enjoyed it.

Would suggest some "Early Morning Pipe" and the original "Frog Morton"...still can't seem to get enough of that one.
Happy hunting!
