That is a pretty dramatic difference in price, even for Walmart. They must have overbought.............
Locally they've been around $10 for many years. I got a pipe lighter Zippo from them several years ago at the same price.
My walmarts still sell em for about 10 dollars. I have a small collection going, but I only use one of em. The classic. I got this one at Walmart about 5 years ago for ten dollars. And its been with me every day. I'll use it untill the hinge goes, and send it for warranty.
The tumbled brass really caught my eye and will probably be my go to for the foreseeable future. Still using pipe lighters felt weird.
You mean using pipe lighters for cigs only these days?
I used to carry a pipe lighter, and a zippo around. When the zippo handles everything I could ever want it for. Lol
I might lose my membership here for saying this, but while I have a few zippo's and with the pipe insert, I prefer the old boy's or other soft flame butane lighters for pipes. Trying to light a pipe with any tobacco still a bit on the moist side, is just a chore.
I never use my Zippo. As a 1-2 bowls per week smoker most of the fuel goes into the air than it goes into lighting the wick. Till I find a way to seal the chamber, the Zippo will remain a display piece ensconced in my—wait... where's the damn lighter??
Well there it is, now I can't even remember where I put it.
A shame, because I've always liked Zippos.

I had one Old Boy fall to the floor causing a crack in the fuel tank and another fall apart in my hand. It was always Beatties for pipes for me.
Must confess I never owned a Beatties but have never broken my old boy's.

They are between $10 and $20 around here. The Zippo factory is near our house. They have some neat lighters for sale there, including "one offs" and NOS from decades ago.
I've gotten a couple pipe lighters from Walmart. It's a savings if you shop right.

I got a few of these one time. It slows the process down some, but doesn't stop the evaporation. But, I suppose any help is good.
