Has anyone tried slightly boiling a Ball jar of Virginia’s and then cooling it to create a negative pressure ? Much like a positive pressure in a tin helping it expand and causing fermentation ??? Maybe I’m wrong and boiling / cooling creates a positive pressure ? Still the theory remains the same I presume ?

If I'm cellaring some tobacco for the long term, I wrap a wet paper towel around an empty glass jar, microwave for 30-45 seconds, then quickly fill the jar with tobacco, and putting on the lid. This should create a slight vacuum in the jar. Make sure to dry the jar before adding the tobacco (the inside should already be completely dry).

Not sure how it works, but baking tobacco at 300 degrees for 3 hours used to be a technique for artificially aging a tobacco. I have never tried it, but there are many posts here on the forum discussing it.
