EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) - Bob

Hi all firstly I'll confess that I'm not a smoker I've registered on the forum to see if anybody knows anything about vintage tobacco, I have a large unopened tin of half and half tobacco that was cleared from my dads house he says it came from one of the American air bases after ww2 , I'm wondering if it might be worth anything to a collector or where could I advertise it , I'll add a couple of pics , if anyone could give me some advise I'd be very grateful, thanks.

Great can! Since EBay cracked down on tobacco sales Pipestud would be the person to sell it. Great guy with a stellar reputation in the pipe community . Good luck.

There's some visible rust around the seams of the tin, and Half and Half is not one of the more desirable tobaccos out there, but it's not totally valueless.

I wouldn't put a dollar value on it, but my advice would be to keep your expectations relatively modest. Very cool tin though!
I see empty tins on Ebay for £20+

My guess would be that the tins have some value whereas the tobacco itself is likely beyond use, just from leaks in the tins and drying to powder. The tins would be desirable as decor items to some, I would think. They might be worth more to you as legacy items from your dad.

Rad! You don't see tobaccos with slogans like, "A cargo of contentment in the bowl of your pipe!" anymore. Whether you sell it or keep it, I hope finding it has brought you some joy. No idea what its cash value might be, though.

If the tin hasn't got any holes in it then more likely than not the contents would be smokeable. I have seen them on Oi Vay over the years. I don't remember the prices they went for and as others have remarked you best bet is to reach out to Pipe Stud.

You should have no problem getting at least $75+ for it IMO, Somebody out there definitely wants to smoke it or collect it, it's just a matter of finding that person.

Edit: $75 CDN puffy

honestly it is probably worth more for the tin then the tobacco. You can certainly make a buck off of it if you want, but the prices on such things vary wildly how many tins of half and half are available from that age? What shape are they in? My wild guess is it might be worth selling but it won't bump you into the next tax bracket.

Shake the can. If it sounds noisy like maracas then the tobacco is dried out and probably worthless. Properly hydrated tobacco will make very little sound when you shake a tin.

Welcome and nice introduction! I am sure many would love to help, and honor your father while having some of that tin too. I am sorry to hear about your father's passing. Best regards

That's a good sign. it's probably not all dried out. (Although it might still be unsmokable for other reasons... moldy or disflavored by rust, etc). Short of opening the tin, there's no way to know for sure. I know Pipestud will weigh vintage tins which can help reveal if the tobacco is in good condition. He's really the master with tins of your vintage. There's not too many other people who can help you more than he could.
