I’ve been getting a few guys at work into pipes here lately. One is a nail smoker, one is a cigar guy, and the other is a vape “smoker”. He is also a former nail smoker, and occasionally smokes a cigar. I gave him several samples to try, and all the pointers I could think of. The samples were a wide variety, including straight Virginias, an Aro, some Va/Burs and Va/Pers, and an English. So far he’s tried the Virginia varieties and says he can’t taste anything. I told him that those have a more subtle flavor profile, and that his palette may just not be attuned to them. I’m wondering though, since he vapes, that he may be so used to the fruity juice that he is expecting something of that nature.
Anyone have an opinion, or some added advice that I could pass on to him? I don’t know much else to tell him. I’ve been smoking pipes for over a decade, and have shared a lot of my knowledge with him, but maybe you guys can give me something else to pass on to him.
