There are a few aromatics that I really enjoy and I’d like to celler them for the future in case the government decides to tax us to death. I know aromatics can weaken over time and aging does not help but rather can hurt aromatic tobacco. I have a vacuum sealer for ball canning jars and to my mind if I seal the tobacco in ball jars it would preserve them as a tin would do for longer storage and enjoyment. Has anyone had any experience trying this?

I too have the vacuum sealing attachment for regular and wide mouth jars that I use for food. I haven't tried it with tobacco, but it shouldn't hurt. Just keep in mind that vacuum sealed tins are not necessarily 100% vacuumed for various reasons. No reason not to experiment.

In case they decide to? Gosh, I admire your optimism!

I haven't tried doing this myself, but yeah, it shouldn't hurt. The 7 mil mylar bags I have utilize their own type of vacuum sealer for those wishing to go that route, but I would think the same principle applies to jars.

I keep all my aromatic in their original tins as they stay plenty moist and they don't know go dry at anytime. I only have 2 aromatics, Molto Doltco and Cult Blood Red Moon and both stay very moist.
I have never had to keep them moist.

I have not had any problem keeping them moist.
