STG changed the recipe somewhat for Erinmore recently. It used to be more strongly flavored. But, it still smells like a urinal cake when you pop a tin.
It is flavored with the same chemicals ised to flavor Wrigleys chewing gum. The smoke tastes just like it, with some of the tobacco coming through. But, it’s not a Virginia. It has quite a bit of burley, which used to have a nice nic hit. Now, it’s pretty weak all around, IMO.

There is nothing like Erinmore Flake, tinned or bulk. It is heavily cased with Jucy Fruit gum flavoring.
If you are looking for high quality Virginia flakes then you might want to try the following.
Peterson Flake
Capstan Blue Flake

Those top 2 are readily available. For Virginia's that are hard to get I recommend the following.
Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia Plug, Vintage Flake, Special Brown Flake
Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake, Brown Virginia Flake, Gold Virginia Flake, Gold Brck, Gold Slice.
Those should keep you busy for a long time.

GLP Union Sq is a great pure Virginia.. but like all Virginia they need to be aged to bring out their best qualities.
