Va/Per / Virginia - Difference ?

A Virginia based blend with a smidge of perique versus a straight Virginia. The perique is a condiment tobacco that imparts a bit of spice to the blend. Most get the taste of pepper from it.

Perique is used in small doses and parts a sweet but peppery or spicy note. Some describe it like white pepper.

When I smoke a Vaper, I get a spicy sweet flavor from it. Kind of like a spicy dried fruit thing. The only peppery notes I get is when I am smoking Escudo and am exhaling through the nose.
The peppery tingle is broadly recognized, but many VaPer's have the dark, musty, fruit-like taste that McClelland aptly
describes as something between mushrooms and stewed fruit. Perique is often used to cut the sharpness of grassy Virginias.
