Starting to Get Obsessed

Couple of weeks ago I won 2 Falcon pipes of Ebay. A bent one that looked a bit worn, and a straight that looked in good condition with two bowl. Finally got them in the mail today. The straight one just need the metal bowl cleaned up a bit and for good measure I wiped the mouth piece down with some alcohol. While I started working on the bent (which was horrifyingly dirty) I noticed that the bowl (the smaller on in the picture) has a incredibly noticeable ghost. I couldn't even taste the PA I was smoking from it. Pretty sure whatever was smoked at the lakeland flavour that I cannot stand.
So, is it possible to smoke it free of the pipe, or should I not bother and just go with the salt & alcohol treatment?
Smoking the bent pipe now and it seems to have a bit of a ghost, but I think I should be able to smoke that one clean, and the other bowl I received was either reamed down to the wood or never smoked so I don't have to worry about ghosting on that one.
While I was able to get the insides of them cleaned, I don't have anything on hand for polishing up the metal. Any recommendation on stuff I should or should not use? Never had to polish anything yet so not too sure what I would be needing.
And for those who like pictures, here are the two I got.

Once again, thanks for all help with my questions.

On My falcons I gave them the S&A treatment. I turned them off the pipe taped up the bottom and all was good.
