Good Morning! I have a question to share with the membership. Can some one offer any details about this type of pipe (age, maker, etc). Any information at all. I do not have the pipe as of yet and no real descriptions were given in it's listing. I've been wanting a pipe like this for some time now. I think it will clean up really nice.

I'm not an expert on hallmarks but it appears to be near the latch. That should give you an idea about year (maybe a year or two off) and possibly country.

The mark to the right of the hinge looks like a crimp in the metal. If it was made in the UK, and it is sterling, there should be hallmarks. Post a pic if there are.

As an aside, what wood is it made out of? I really don't think it's briar.
I'd love to see pics of it cleaned up.

Thanks guys for all the nice comments. I've had some time over the weekend to clean this pipe up some. It does appear to be sterling silver but I've misplaced my polishing cloth to really give her a good shine. I'm not sure I'm any closer to finding out the maker. Markings on the underside of the stem look to be "NRCo"? The hallmark on the side of the bowl appears to be the same as on the shank. Here are a few images, maybe someone might know more about the pipe now.
I'm guessing the pipe to be made of cherrywood instead of briar.
