[/img]Hi,

I recently purchased a Dunhill that has some unique markings. I know that there have been a myriad of markings on Dunhills over the years but I wanted to get your opinion.
thanks

Matt

Matt,

Your Dunhill Bruyere was made in 1967 and is a Group 4 bowl, the A signifies it is a Bruyere finish, I believe the 1 has something to do with either the sale date or if it were sent back to Dunhill for a warranty item but not totally certain on that, I have no help, for you on the 290 shape designation except it’s a Billiard and a beautiful pipe. I hope in some way this answers a little bit of your pipes information, regards.

Thanks for the info. As to the shape, the shape number on the left of the pipe shows 710, the 290 number on the right side is an anomaly to me as is the number 1 above it. The number 1 is not as confusing to me as the 290 under it. I also just noticed that the zero in the 290 is a strange shape.
It almost looks like the number one and the zero below are the same stamping font and that perhaps that is a number 10 stamped vertically with a number 29 stamped horizontally to the left of it.
In any event it is the numbering on the right side of the pipe that are a mystery to me.
