I was woken up by Canada Post phoning me this morning at 7:30 asking me if I was expecting any packages of white powder in the mail.

I said no, and he sounded quite alarmed and upset by that, as apparently a package with my name on it was leaking white powder. He said yesterday someone's leaking package had unmarked dangerous goods in it that injured several postal employees at their location, so they were understandably cautious.

After a quick check of my ebay purchase history and tracking numbers and some back and forth with the postman to confirm the info on the package, we figured out that it is blocks of magnesium weightlifting chalk that I had ordered.

No chalk, but in the Nineties had 2 FBI men at my mailbox, package inside from Israel, they asked if I would open it, sure I said it’s a lightweight motorcycle jacket, showed it to them, they got back in their black car and went away.

Back when Ebay was a new thing I ordered some martial arts wrist wraps, they came from Pakistan and the CBSA didn't like that, they peeled apart every layer of the cardboard box, pulled the stitching out of the wraps, and cut off a piece even. Then they taped all the pieces together in a big wad with a big customs sticker on it and sent it on its way.

The summer after 9/1/1 my wife and I were on vacation in CA and she decided to mail home a bunch of purchases including large pine cones. She wrapped them in aluminum foil to prevent damage. A month later the package finally arrived home and it was obvious it had set off alarm bells as everything had been ripped apart. They probably got a good laugh over it.

I don’t think the X-ray will scan through metal foil very well so it probably looked like a bunch of metal eggs lol

Waking up to an unexpected call from Canada Post: Annoying but not bad.

Waking up to unexpected sex while in prison: Bad

True, true, I've had far worse wake ups. When my son was about the same age as your daughter he once woke me up by projectile vomiting in my face. The most annoying wake up I can recall was when I was on a roadtrip with a buddy when I was about 18, he was taking his turn driving and i had just barely fallen asleep when he yelled "WAKE UP WE'RE GONNA CRASH!" And we did crash, we hit black ice and slid off a corner into a rock face going 90kph.
