Backstory : I was married 33 years my wife died April 2019. I have been with my woman Janie now going on 3 years. She was married 33 years her husband died March 2019. Janie got me a pipe kit for Christmas. My pipe making skills are pedestrian at best. That said I achieved the huge bowl I wanted. This pipe will smoke for 2 hours if packed well. Since 2 hours is a long time I just gravity feed it for a smoke that last 45 minutes to an hour. Smoking Latakia today. I have my nice Savinelli which I'll post later for smoking when out; this pipe is great when I am smoking alone. I still need to wax it and maybe finish it a bit more. Function wise no problems yet. I did use honey on the bowl which I think helps it not burn through. I'm also smoking slow.

Eh, some more sanding and oil, maybe some Renaissance wax, and I'd probably think it handsomer by far than most four-figure pieces I've seen.

I'd show off my adventure in pipe-craft, but I gave it to a novice smoker after I got my money's worth out of it. Came out as a sorta rounded square mushroom shape.
..."my money's worth" being the adventure of shaping it, then smoking it two or three times.

This actually is turning into my go to pipe. I can vary the smoke I have from 30 minutes (gravity only not taped down at all, partial bowl) to over 2 hours packed right (I found I only wanted to do that once). The outside is rough but the bowl is slowly building up carbon and displays no signs of stress. Cleaning the pipe takes half the time of my Italian pipe.

I'm tempted to just leave it because it is smoking so well for me. I may ruin that if I mess with it. If I knew what I was doing......maybe; but I work for a non profit so I have no real skills.

That's one fugly tobacco receptacle... but I like it! I bet it can stand up all by itself when you set it on the table.

Primary question with any pipe is how does it smoke. Rather smoke an ugly pipe that is a great smoker then a beautiful pipe that fights you for the smoke. Kind of like with ladies. Rather have one I get along with then one that is pretty. Rather it be both but if I have to choose.
Oh an I have seen uglier more rough hewn pipes sell for several hundred.
