Query: Do you find a different flavor from individual blends thru different types of pipes?

My story of today:
Started out with a bowl of Royal Yacht (Pete) in my Bings. A few days ago I enjoyed some RY ( same jar/tin) and it was to me the sweetest natural tobacco flavor. That was in my MM Charlestowne Cobbler and I didn't quite finish the bowl.

Today's bowl in the Bings was not as sweet/ tasty.

Later I had a bowl of Westminster in my Algonquin Brigham which also didn't seem as sweet as the last bowl I had which was in my St.Pats ( not sure what they call them now) MM Cobb.

I noticed that I had a bit of tobacco left in my Charlestowne Cobbler and lit it up... just as sweet and tasty as I remembered.

I have spent the bulk of the day looking at new briars on line. I'm in the mood to buy another one, but have never thought about the type of pipe effecting the blends taste.

Not sure if I am crazy, or I just had a magical pinch in the Cobb but am a bit curious what you all might have to say on this subject.

My apologies if this has been discussed before and I missed it, also if this is the wrong section for this post. In which case I am confident a Moderator will move it with my thanks.

I'm thinking about a bowl of Maltese Falcon later and wasn't going to, but just might pack the Charlestowne Cobbler and see how it goes.

Cheers,

Cob is little different from briar. Cob, when new, has certain flavor. Barley, specially OTC codger, works best with cob. RY is Va. with topping. Maybe cob is helping to add flavor. Or with narrower chamber, you are getting more concentrated flavor out from cob.

To be honest, I feel like my cobbs have a larger chamber than my briars.. mostly. I should say that I have very few pipes and most of my smoking has been in cobbs.

The Cobb mentioned is two or three years old and has had many a bowl smoked in it, but I understand your point (good one).

Not different TYPES of pipes (I don't smoke cobs), but in different shapes, yes. When I still.smoked complex English blends, I got the best flavors from a wider bowl. With Virginia's, I find a narrower bowl helps to focus, or intensify the lighter, simpler flavors. You said your cob was well used. That may very well contribute.

Flavor has more to do with tobacco moisture, tightness of packing, and smoking cadence. If you like the looks of a meer lined, get one. Less fragile than full meer.?
Never had a meer but curious about them. I really just want to know how to enjoy the flavor I experienced every time.
I did let the tobaccos rest for a few minutes today and they seemed plenty dry..good I thought since raining out here.

Again, more about technique than equipment. What you taste of the tobacco when smoking is the tobacco around the ember, not the ember itself, the he smoke is just a carrier. Ember size directly affects what you taste. The larger the ember, you get more ashy taste and the smaller the ember, you get more tobacco taste.

Not all pipes are created equal. But IMO the differences are more between individual pipes than between certain shapes or types.
My experience with cobs and meers is limited to only one of each, but with briars my experience is that the shape of the pipe, the chamber, I know, doesn't in itself alter the flavor of the tobacco.

It's like saying macaroni and cheese tastes different eating it from a bowl or plate.
