The older I get, the more sensitive to nicotine I am. Anybody else found that true for themselves?

Aside from using a charcoal filter, is there any other ways to dial down the strength of a higher N blend other than smaller bowls or not holding smoke in the mouth?

When you say “not holding smoke in the mouth” do you mean inhale? Or just hotboxing it?

I’m a Nic whimp.
I smoke high Nic blends eg Peterson’s Irish Flake in a gourd calabash.
The air chamber dilutes the smoke and ameliorates the Nic hit admirably

Probably not ideal, but cutting the higher N blend with a lower N neutral leaf might help?

I’ve never been a nic fan, but some infamously high nic blends never gave me problems while other light nic blends would give me the spins.

I’ve been smoking some 20 year old Bayou Morning flake that knocks me on my ass.

Since my consumption is about a third of what it was, nic seems to affect me more.

Age may have something to do with it.

Well your body goes through a complete new you every 7 years. Things you were allergic to now, in 7 years you may not be allergic to. I was allergic to cats but now I’m not and I had no dealings with them to build up a tolerance.

Not sure if that factors into Nic tolerance, but maybe? Worth a google.

Or lungs have been conditioned to have more of a tolerance to absorb nic. All sorts of potential of factors here that I don’t have the time to research

It helps to rub them out instead of fold & stuff, the latter of which more often than not simply results in a pissed off cat. Rubbing them out, for whatever reason, they don't seem to mind, in spite of what PETA insists on their website FAQ... 🐈 🤪

This maybe a valid theory. Since you have more experience in this, what breed of cat would you recommend? Will test soon and report back.

Like Jesse, sometimes it’s the mild blends that knock me for a loop. If it’s becoming a regular occurrence, try smoking slower, taking little breaks during a bowl, and make sure you’ve eaten beforehand.

After 50+ years of smoking a pipe, I still cannot tolerate burley. I suspect it’s body chemistry.

I’ve never heard this theory. Guess there is some solid proof I’m a multi-reincarnate!
