There is an American film I have seen twice but for the life of me the name escapes me and it's niggling the hell out of me.

Here is what little I can remember of it.

The main character was a crazed nutjob that lived in a huge compound out in the desert. He had loudspeakers scattered about the place where he would play recordings of his rants. He wore round glasses, was dressed in combat gear and was armed with a sniper rifle.

A woman who was kidnapped during a botched bank robbery somehow finds herself dumped in this compound and is fighting for her survival. She comes across other folk (some dead) who have also been ensnared. One is a Native American who is chained to a wrecked car.

The crazy nutjob appears to have a brother in the local police force who appears towards the end of the film and is quite normal. He tries to talk his brother into giving himself up.

Inside this compound there are a series of old mine tunnels and shafts where perhaps the nutty chap lives.

The reason why I'm asking this? Everytime I see Forum member @Lotuseater's avatar I'm reminded of the main character though Lotuseater assures me his avatar is not 'my man'.

So chaps, any ideas as to what film I'm referring to?

Regards,

Jay.

I guess I'm getting tender-hearted in my old age, but that one sounds hard to watch. That sounds more for the high school crowd who feels invulnerable. Also, it makes detention study hall feel like a massage by comparison. Just to play along with the jokes, is it Bambi?

Speaking of somewhat sordid obscure films, I saw one when I was in the Navy, on liberty in Long Beach, called "Blind Man," starring Tony Anthony, where this blind desperado keeps getting the better of everybody through ruthless guile. It's the ultimate underdog film. Everyone thinks he's an easy mark, and then his dynamite sticks tear down the building.

Carnage Park was definitely it....well done that man :)

"Wyatt's brother, the sheriff, visits Wyatt's compound to ask if he has seen Vivian. Wyatt denies any knowledge of her, and his brother warns him that she is too well known for her murder to be hushed up."

Guys, it really was a good film, something of a psycho/thriller.

Jay.

That guy does bear a passing resemblance to a young Hermann Hesse (my avatar).

Also - it is remarkable to me the the sort of obscure information that can be found here on the forums.
